Abstract:
The publication of Richard Manning's Against the Grain has particular importance for anthropologists interested in agriculture and its modern transformations. Comments of a panel of anthropologists and Manning's response are included in this set of articles. Recent developments in the production of corn for fuel ethanol in the midwestern United States is examined.
