Hey, my name is Travis Statham. I've been doing the CarniWay for the past two years and I've been reading and posting science concerning carbohydrate and plant restriction while maximizing animal products.

Back in 2012, at the age of 23 with a slight post-college beer belly, I read 'Good Calories Bad Calories' by Gary Taubes. I was amazed at the huge amount of information I had missed while 'learning' nutrition through public school and government guidelines. However, I tried a very low carb ketogenic diet, lost 20 pounds, felt incredible, had better energy and endurance. Over the following years, I waffled between maintaining the diet and having beer and cookie binges while justifying that the 20's should be about fun and pleasure. Yet by reading more books about the topic, I've become more convinced that doing a ketogenic diet long term is best.

Today, I advocate the trial of a carnivorous diet for health, well-being, and longetivity. It took me much research and time to acquire the knowledge I've compiled here and I hope you will further your own health by trying what you decide is best.

In my spare time, I moderate subreddits such as r/ketoscience, r/zerocarb, and r/TechnicalDeathMetal and I help moderate the World Carnivore Tribe on Facebook. I do about 4 hours of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu a week and I play Xbox and attend live metal shows. I try to keep up to date with 5+ podcasts and 10+ YouTube channels, and I'm always reading new books related to the Carnivorous Way of Eating.

I’ve read many books on low carb dieting, including

  • The Art and Science of Low Carb Living by Phinney / Volek

  • Good Calories, Bad Calories by Gary Taubes

  • Why We Get Fat by Gary Taubes

  • The Case Against Sugar by Gary Taubes

  • The Big Fat Surprise by Nina Teicholz

  • Lore of Nutrition by Tim Noakes and Marika Sboros

  • The Paleo Diet by Loren Cordain

  • The World Turned Upside Down by Dr Richard David Feinman

  • The Whole Soy Story by Kaayla T Daniel

  • The Vegetarian Myth by Lierre Keith

  • Vegetarianism Explained by Natasha Campbell-McBride

  • Not by Bread Alone by Vilhjalmur Stefansson

  • Fiber Menace by Dr. Konstantin (gutsense.org)

  • The Stone Age Diet by Dr. Walter Voegtlin (justmeat.co)

  • The Hypercarnivore Diet by Don Matesz

  • The Carnivore Diet by Dr. Shawn Baker (upcoming)

  • Strong Medicine by Dr. Blake Donaldson

  • Cancer as a Metabolic Disease - On the Origin, Management, and Prevention of Cancer by Dr Thomas Seyfried

  • Pure White and Deadly by Dr. John Yudkin

  • Lies My Doctor Told me by Dr. Ken D Berry

  • Deep Nutrition by Dr. Cate Shanahan

  • Eat Rich, Live Long by Ivor Cummins & Dr. Jeffry Gerber

  • The Story of the Human Body by Daniel Lieberman

  • Keto. by Maria Emmerich

However, I have about 100+ books I'd like to eventually read on nutrition, evolution, anthropology, and all the affiliated scientific fields related to the Carnivorous Way of Eating. I made a giant list of them here and I hope you'll be convinced to add some of them to your collection! I also listen to a lot of podcasts and have been on several episodes. Check out my list of Podcast Recommendations. I also created a list of websites and social media accounts to follow, including YouTube channels and groups to join.
