Description
A large, domed tortoise from the dry island of Sombrero in the Lesser Antilles. With its robust limbs and herbivorous diet, it thrived in low-scrub and arid conditions. The shell was high and brownish, and its slow gait and lack of natural predators made it vulnerable to human exploitation.
