Abstract:

There is a large and increasing global burden of cardiovascular disease (CVD). The Indian subcontinent may be one of the regions with the highest burden of CVD in the world. With affluence and urbanization, fat intake, especially saturated fat, is increasing. Vitamins have beneficial effects which are useful to the heart, but do not provide the all-round cardioprotection that is required. Hence, there is a perceived need of nutritional supplement that is rich in these essential nutrients. Studies have shown multifactorial cardio-protective actions of omega-3 fatty acids. A cardioceutical contains all the essential nutrients, vitamins, and minerals including omega-3 fatty acids in the right proportion that will provide all-round protection to the heart.
